South Asian Cardiovascular Program

Culturally informed prevention and earlier risk identification for South Asian patients whose risk may be underestimated by standard tools.

Who this program helps

Start with the problem—not the procedure.

South Asian patients, especially those with diabetes, a strong family history, or early cardiovascular events in the family.

  • Strong family history
  • Diabetes or central adiposity
  • Concern that standard risk tools miss important factors

How PICC evaluates

Clarity before the next step.

The program considers family history, metabolic risk, lipid patterns, lifestyle, and selected imaging in cultural context.

Treatment approach

Care focuses on practical prevention, risk-factor management, and long-term partnership.

Technology with purpose

Tools selected to answer a clinical question.

More technology does not automatically mean more procedures. The purpose is to add useful information to the clinical decision.

  • Advanced lipid testing
  • Coronary calcium scoring
  • CCTA when appropriate

What to expect

A focused visit built around the decision in front of you.

01

Review

The team reviews symptoms, risk factors, medications, prior test reports, and original imaging when it is available and relevant.

02

Clarify

Testing is considered only when it can answer a meaningful clinical question or change the care plan.

03

Plan

The next step may be prevention, medical therapy, further evaluation, intervention, surveillance, or coordination with another specialist.

Patient questions

What patients often ask.

Is this program the right place to start?+

South Asian patients, especially those with diabetes, a strong family history, or early cardiovascular events in the family.

What should I bring to a first visit?+

Bring an up-to-date medication list and any relevant records, imaging, or test reports available to you. The office can clarify what is most useful when you schedule.

Will I need every test listed on this page?+

No. Technology is selected to answer a clinical question. Your clinician determines which tests, if any, fit your individual situation.

Can I request a second opinion?+

Yes. PICC evaluates patients seeking another perspective on symptoms, prior testing, or a proposed cardiovascular treatment.

Where are visits available?+

PICC sees patients in Glen Ridge/Montclair, Clifton, and Paramus. Call the central office to confirm the appropriate provider and location.
